Bylaws of
The Lighthouse Club*December 1998

You Youth group and sponsors.
*The Youth Fellowship of the Seibert & Genoa Community Churches

1.  The Purpose of The Lighthouse Club (TLC) are fivefold.  We hope to:

     a. Help the community.  We hope to be able to bring the community together by sponsoring events to foster unity.

     b. Have fun.   We want to have fun in a positive, helpful and productive manner.  We are young and we have exuberance which we want to channel in acceptable ways while still having a great time.

     c. Grow in knowledge about God.  We want to know what God expects of us in our daily lives.  What does God want us to do in our day-to-day lives?  How can we make a difference for God today?  How can we be effective witnesses for God?  We want to learn this and put it into practice.

     d. Interact with our peers.  We want to learn to interact both socially and religiously with our peers.  What is acceptable behavior?  What is unacceptable behavior?  This is a safe group where we can talk about and work out problems we may be experiencing.

     e. Learn how to deal with life.  We want to grow and mature as young people who will be adults sooner than we or others may expect.  We are not the future of the church, we are a part of the church right now.  And we want to learn all that means for us.

2.  Membership is for youth in the fifth through twelfth grades (or beginning with the 5th year program).  The new fifth graders will be able to join in September.  All members of TLC must be enrolled in school.  Should a member be suspended from school this member is still considered to be enrolled in school.  Should a member quit school, this member forfeits eligibility to be a member of TLC.

3.  Attendance at TLC work days and special activities.  Members must attend 75% of the meetings to go on the Fun Trips.  Work days and special events (banquets, etc.) must be attended unless formally excused.  After each Fun Trip the attendance slate is wiped clean and the 75% requirement begins anew, until the next Fun Trip.  An excused absence is one due to:

        a. Illness.
        b. Death in family.
        c. Weddings.
        d. Organized activities:  4H, school.
        e. Other:  to be decided by membership.

4.  Officers:

       a.  There shall be three officers elected to carry out the necessary duties in maintaining this Youth Fellowship.  They shall be:  President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer.  In addition there shall be two youth representatives to Administrative Council:  one for each church.

       b.  All officers must attempt to attend all meetings unless excused with good reason.  Should an officer not fulfill the responsibilities of his/her office a special election will be held to replace that person.

        c.  Terms of the officers will be for one year beginning on 1 May.

5.  Duties of the officers:  At special functions put on by TLC the officers will greet people as they arrive and welcome them; also the officers will orally give any thank you's that are necessary.  Other duties are as follows:
